PA-Animal Rescue League of Berks County-Three Guinea Pigs

*I am really sick today, and am very behind on both approving comments and posting guinea pigs. I am going to write briefer posts just for my sanity*

The Animal Rescue League of Berks County has LISTING REMOVED. three guinea pigs, and oddly doesn't specify sex. Before adopting check the sexing page on Guinea Lynx or Cavy Spirit (links on side bar), and if you determine you are adopting a female, please have a pregnancy watch and read up on either site about pregnancy, labor, and spaying.

NY-Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society-two baby boys

I don't know squat first hand about Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society. Their website says that they spay and neuter all their animals prior to adoption, when medically possible, and I think this is so fantastic. It can be an expensive and complicated procedure in guinea pigs, and so it's excellent to find a shelter or rescue that will take care of this for you. Because no one reading this blog wants to br33d guinea pigs, right? If so, please leave. You're in the wrong classroom. And though these two aren't a coed couple, there are long term health benefits to both neutering and spaying.

LISTING REMOVED. An interesting thing, which I've actually never seen before , is that they don't have photographs of their guinea pigs available for adoption. Rather, they have a colored pencil drawing. That's wacky! Not sure if these two boys actually look like this, or if it's a generic stand in, but the artist has talent! The two boys in question are Hewey and Dewey, both small baby boys.

PA-Humane Society of Harrisburg Area-East Shore-four pigs

The Humane Society of Harrisburg Area has four very beautiful and unique guinea pigs.

LISTING REMOVED. Taketa is such a beautiful young abby girl. I love her markings--she sort of looks like she has beagle ears!

WITH A RESCUE! Sammie and Guiness are, I'm guessing a bonded pair. They are young sows, and I think they're absolutely amazing looking. Sometimes it's tempting to think short-hairs can't look as neat as their longer-haired brethren. These girls are such a perfect example that that's not true. Though of course it's the personality that counts--and these girls look sweet too!

LISTING REMOVED. Mo Mo is another young sow. I think she is very lovely looking. It's almost as though someone colored her with colored pencils. I love her little white face too. Adopt and send pictures!

PA-Cragislist/Other-Two Listings

* If responding to a Craigslist ad meet in a public place, or go with a friend. Google the phone number of the poster to
ensure
it matches the name he or she gives *

LISTING REMOVED. Pittsburgh, PA: Nine month old needs a new home due to lack of attention. He's a lemon and white haired boy. He loves attention and is very sweet. He has longer hair than your average pig. He's a very sweet little guy, and he comes with his cage, food and water bottle. He also comes with cedar bedding, but as this is toxic to guinea pigs I don't advise using this.

LISTING REMOVED. Philadelphia, PA: Three four month old babies delivered to to a pregnant adopted piggie. Two boys and a girl.

PA-Piggie Lovers Inc. Guinea Pig Rescue-three bonded sows

Piggie Lovers Inc. Guinea Pig Rescue has three new girls available for adoption!

ADOPTED! Samantha, Tabitha, and Endora are three beautiful girls. My personal pigs are three bonded girls (and one sanctuary in a separate cage), and it is so much more fun for them and for me.

What's very sad about these piggies is that they used to be be a quartet. Their fourth passed on. Their previous owner knew she was sick and not eating, and didn't care to take her to the vet.

Endora

These pigs are vocal and love attention. Samantha loves having her head scratched. They sound like such sweet guineas!

NY-Craigslist-three listings

FLAGGED FOR REMOVAL. Albany, NY: Well uh oh! I'm in communication with the poster of this ad. If you have an older or adult boar and you're trying to get him a mate, this post is your jackpot. Two guinea pigs have now turned in to 14 teddys and long hairs. Please double check the sex of any guinea pigs you adopt from them so you don't wind up in the same situation. These cavy kids are four weeks old, and three-four months old.

LISTING REMOVED. Albany, NY: Eight month old brown and white sweetie needs a new home. She is lovable and vocal, and loves attention and floor time. She sounds like the perfect guinea pig!

LISTING REMOVED. Syracuse, NY: These bonded two year old sows have been reposted yet again. Good luck ladies!

PA-Craigslist-Two Boars

* If responding to a Craigslist ad meet in a public place, or go with a friend. Google the phone number of the poster to
ensure
it matches the name he or she gives *

FLAGGED FOR REMOVAL. Pittsburgh, PA: two boars in need of a new home. One is brown and the other is black and white. They are used to kids. These loving pigs come with a cage, water bottle, food, hay and vitamin C (don't put it in the water!). Not sure why they're being rehomed, but I hope they have better luck in their next (hopefully forever) home.

PA-Western Pennsylvania Humane Society-Five Pigs

Western Pennsylvania Humane Society has two new guinea pigs, and three guinea pigs who have been waiting for homes there for a while.

LISTING REMOVED. Cookie is a cute one year old girl. At two pounds she's a smaller piggy.

LISTING REMOVED. MiMi is a beautiful ten month old long-haired girl. She also weighs two pounds.

LISTING REMOVED. Lucy is a brown and white girl in foster care. She is a year and three years old and is a larger girl at three pounds. These guineas are made for hugging! There is some information on her profile that I disagree with, regarding guinea pig care. For example, salt licks are not helpful or necessary for guinea pigs.

LISTING REMOVED. Flower is a beauty of a girl. I would love to see her in person; I've never seen a guinea pig that looked like her. She is one year and two months old, and she's been at the shelter since September! If I lived near her she wouldn't have been there even a day.

LISTING REMOVED. Callie with the crest! This nine month old girl is now in foster care. Her fur is multiple shades of brown, with some white. The poor baby has been with the shelter since September.

PA-Glenmoore Small Animal Rescue-Boar

Glenmoore Small Animal Rescue has a new piggie boy. He doesn't have a photo up yet, but I wanted to post him as soon as possible. ADOPTED! Caramel was returned to his rescue after two years with what he thought was his forever home. His owner didn't have enough time for him. Poor Caramel! He is very well socialized with people, and comes with a bunch of supplies. Help this boy out! Teach him what forever is supposed to mean.

621

PA-Montgomery County SPCA-senior boar

NOVEMBER IS ALMOST OVER but that doesn't mean that all the senior pigs have homes!

LISTING REMOVED. Montgomery County SPCA has a five year old boar staying with them. He's a white male piggie without a picture. This is going to really hurt his chances of being adopted. The poor boy doesn't even have a name! Help him out. If you can't adopt, maybe you could go down to the shelter and bring this guy some acceptable veggies, and give him a little pet. Or offer to take a picture of the guy!

NY-Black Dog Second Chance Rescue-three babies

Introducing three of the cutest piggies I've ever seen: Larry, Moe, and Curly. They're being fostered by a guinea pig knowledgeable person in Buffalo, NY for Black Dog Second Chance Rescue.

Each one of the dear babies is six weeks old, very sweet and adorable. They need to be adopted either to a family who already has a male pig, or they can all be adopted together. I know which option I would choose! But if you have an adult male piggie who is alone for whatever reason, they lost their mate or never had one, a young male to old male pairing is generally very successful.

ADOPTED! Moe:

ADOPTED! Curly:

ADOPTED! Larry:

PA-Action for Animal Inc. Humane Society-Boar

An interesting update on the bonded boars featured in this post. Pedro's listing has been removed (let's hope he was adopted!), and LISTING REMOVED. Gizmo has been relisted by Action for Animals. As a girl!

She is a large adult, and a sweetheart. It takes her a minute to warm up to you, but a lot of guinea pigs are like that in the shelter. Then wait till you see them in their forever homes!

NY-Craigslist-Two Listings

* If responding to a Craigslist ad meet in a public place, or go with a friend. Google the phone number of the poster to
ensure
it matches the name he or she gives *

LISTING REMOVED. Rochester, NY: Two sisters in W. Irondequoit need a new home. The owner is willing to split them up, but I really advise against this. Guinea pigs can become incredibly depressed when separated from their mate. And these girls are one and a half years old, so they've had quite a while to bond. They are sweet vocal girls who sound beautiful. One has brown and white teddy fur, the other is mainly black with white and brown fur. Why would you take just one of them? They sound so sweet!

LISTING REMOVED. Syracuse, NY: Three babies need a new home. Two months old, able to be separated from their mother. The mom came to them pregnant and they can't keep all the babies. They are snuggle pigs, two girls and one boy.

PA-Craigslist-Educated Guinea Pig

* If responding to a Craigslist ad meet in a public place, or go with a friend. Google the phone number of the poster to
ensure it matches the name he or she gives *

POST DELETED. Upper Dublin, PA: Not much info here. A guinea pig comes with cage and water bottle. The poster "can't have it in school anymore." Well, those cavy private schools can be pretty expensive. I hope they tried for scholarships before dumping the pig to the sn@ke owning public. Could have given the pig a chance to get his grades up. Buy uniforms at an outlet store. There are ways to cope!

NY-Lollypop Farm in Fairport-four pigs

I would like to take a second to really reiterate that this blog is not intended to be used for br33ding, hoarding, bunching, or collecting. These homeless pets have had terrible lives, some of them have been starved, neglected, back br3d over and over. They deserve amazing treatment. They deserve homes that are not beyond pushing themselves too far. Are all your pigs in proper sized cages? With fresh water and food? Unlimited hay and quality pellets? Are the cages cleaned regularly? Are the pigs getting vet care, or have you budgeted for vet care? If the answer is no to any of these, please take a look at your own pigs first, and help them. Sometimes the pigs in need are those in our own homes. Remember other people are out there helping. You need not fight the homeless animal population on your own. Take care of those in your own home first, and know your limits. And any br33ders or bunchers that come here--I hate what you do. I'd probably hate you. Leave homeless animals alone. Your actions already contribute enough to the cause.

* DON'T BR33D OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE! *

Now, on to the latest Lollypop Guild members. Again, they prove adorable.

LISTINGS REMOVED. Miss Piggy is a beautiful two year old abby sow. Oh her fur looks so soft!

LISTING REMOVED. Moose is one of the prettiest guinea pigs I've ever seen. He is a one year old male. The name Moose is perfect for him!

LISTINGS REMOVED. Larry and Rodney are a gorgeous bonded duo. These boys are both a year and a half old. Larry is on the left and Rodney is on the right. They're both kings!
