NY-Tompkins County SPCA-EIGHT frickin' pigs!

Tompkins County SPCA in Ithaca, NY has eight, count em, eight guinea pigs for adoption. They're not up on the website, but one of the animal heroes over at GuineaLynx got an email about them.

Here's what is known: there are four girls and four boys. All abbys. One girl has a crazy hairdo like a mohawk down her back. Almost all of them are TSWs (patches of black, red and white), but one of the males might be a lilac red and white. They are thought to be 3-5 months old.

All the males are currently adoptable. The girls are all on pregnancy watch and can't be adopted yet because of that. The poor girls are living in the bathroom of the SPCA's rescue building (blame the sources of the homeless animal population, not the shelter)

They need fosterers, donations, and people to adopt these adorable young boars! And people to adopt the sows in two months--and maybe some cute little babies.

Oh have I forgotten to post how they got to the shelter? Apparently they were "strays" some folks found in their backyard, then brought to the shelter. Either someone threw them in to their yard (this happens way too often), or some folks aren't telling the truth.

PA-Bucks County SPCA-Two piggies

Two new piggies at the Bucks County SPCA! And these girls are quite cute.

LISTING REMOVED. Lana is an eight month old tri-color crested piggy girl. She is very friendly, but could use some work on people socialization. The shelter says she would do well with responsible children, but I would add the caveat for older responsible children. Sometimes younger kids don't have large enough hands for the wriggly pigs.

LISTING REMOVED. Caramel has the same bio, so please see above. And please see below, she's cute!

FLAGGED FOR REMOVAL. Philadelphia, PA: Nine month old adorable crested tri-color piggie (black, white and tan) needs a new home. He is a very sweet boy who is "not getting the attention he needs." Comes with cage, food bowl, water bottle, pigloo, and any extra food and bedding that is left at time of adoption. Oh and he was an impulse buy who wasn't compatible with the college life style. Does that mean I can blame dropping out on my pigs? I'd love to get my family/society off my back.

NJ-Have-A-Heart Guinea Pig Rescue-Tons of new pigs!

NOTE: DUE TO TIME CONSTRAINTS AND THE LARGE NUMBER OF HAVE A HEART GUINEA PIGS, HAH ENTRIES WILL NO LONGER BE RETROACTIVELY UPDATED. MY APOLOGIES FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS CAUSES. THE HAH WEBSITE WILL OFFER THE MOST UP TO DATE INFORMATION.

Have-A-Heart Guinea Pig Rescue has a ton of new guinea pigs. Below I've featured a number of new and old New Jersey guinea pigs, then listed all the NJ pigs at the bottom. Have-A-Heart has foster homes in NJ, PA, and DE. They are always looking for new foster homes and donations, material and financial.

Janet and Chrissy are cute three year old girls who came in to the rescue because of allergies. They are used to dogs and cats. Janey is a black self (pretty), and Chrissy is a lemon agouti and blonde American. These girls need a foster home! If you can't foster, why not donate toward getting them spayed? The overpopulation problem will thank you, as will the girls--spaying and neutering GPs has long term health benefits.

Pretty boy Richie has been in the rescue since September! That's too long without a forever home, and I can only attribute his non-adoption to the overpopulation problem (fueled by br33ders and petstores), because this guy is adorable. He came in to the rescue from his local shelter, where he was dropped off because his owners no longer wanted him. Poor Richie! He is used to being around kids, cats, and dogs. Richie is a rust and brown agouti American, and thanks to a generous donor, the rescue was able to have him neutered!

Ginny, Nutcracker, Brownbear and Wolverina
, first off, have amazing names. Love it. They were surrendered because of allergies, and they are all used to dogs, cats, and kids. They must be adopted in pairs. Ginny and Nutcracker are three years old--Ginny is a rust and white abby, and Nutcracker is a chocolate, white and black abby (sounds so cute!). Brownbear and Wolverina are both two years old--Brownbear is a chocolate and rust American, and Wolverina is a chocolate, rust and black abby. Sounds like a cute matching pair! They also need donations for spays.

ADOPTED! Coconut has been in the rescue since mid-November, when he was given up because of allergies. He is used to cats, dogs, and kiddies. He is in a classroom foster home--wow, I've never heard of that before! He is a cutie rust and black abby who is now nine months of age. Coconut is accepting donations toward his neuter, though he might not be too happy about it.

Toodle, Maze and May are a bonded trio who must be adopted together. They are on pregnancy watch in to the first week of February as they were housed with males before coming in to the rescue. Their owner could no longer care for them so they came to the rescue. Toodle, Maze and May are used to kitties and doggos. Toodle-Poodle is a year and a half old, and is a cute chocolate, blonde and white American. Maze and May are young pups at four months old--they are both black, blonde and white Americans. They also need donations for spays.

Piper is an adorable tri-color crested boy who is about six and a half months old. He's been in the rescue since September--time for a forever home! He is used to kids, cats, and dogs. The poor guy was listed as "fr33 to a good home" at a local feed store. He is incredibly lucky to be with such a good rescue. Piper is accepting donations toward his neuter.

Puff and Deamo are a bonded pair who must be adopted together. These boys were given up to the rescue because their owner could no longer care for them, and they are used to cats and dogs. Puff is a year old, and Deamo is four months old. They are both black, white and blonde Americans. And they need foster homes! Can't foster? Why not make a donation toward their neuters?

Harley and Edwin are adorable guys who must be adopted together. Poor boy have been in the rescue since May! They came to the rescue from a local animal shelter, where they were turned in because they were no longer wanted. Have you seen their picture? I don't get it. Harley is the adorable tri-color American on the left, and Edwin is the rust and white abby on the right. They're both young and used to cats and dogs. You can donate toward their neuters--even if Harley and Edwin won't thank you, the rescue and their adopters will!

ADOPTED! Nelson is a loner boy who doesn't want to be alone for long! He must be adopted to a home with a piggie friend waiting for him. Nelson is a baby boy, just one month old, and he is already used to dogs and cats. He is a black and white American mix, and he needs a foster home! If you can't foster this cutie, why not make a donation toward his neuter?

LISTING REMOVED. St. Lawrence County, NY: Piggy boy Clarence needs a new home because his owners are moving. He's used to kids and is very cute and gentle. He is mostly white with some black. Contact the owners for details. And if you're thinking of moving, and believe you can't bring your piggy with you, but would if you could--register on GuineaLynx or Guinea Pig Home and ask for tips. For example, with an approved carrier you can bring a GP with you on a Delta flight.
