NJ-Have-a-Heart Guinea Pig Rescue

NOTE: DUE TO TIME CONSTRAINTS AND THE LARGE NUMBER OF HAVE A HEART GUINEA PIGS, HAH ENTRIES WILL NO LONGER BE RETROACTIVELY UPDATED. MY APOLOGIES FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS CAUSES. THE HAH WEBSITE WILL OFFER THE MOST UP TO DATE INFORMATION.

New Jersey has been blessed with another Have-a-Heart Piggie! Time to bless Have-a-Heart with some great adopters. As a reminder, they have foster homes in NJ, DE, and PA. The last MD piggies just got adopted; what lucky girls!

Laverne and Shirly
don't have pictures up yet, but knowing Have-a-Heart they're cuties. I can tell you that they are baby girls who are bonded. Despite their young age, they've already gone through the difficult process of being returned from a "forever" home through no fault of their own. Their previous adopters were moving and were unable to take the guineas with them. Laverne and Shirly are used to dogs, kids, and cats. Both girls are abbys; Laverne is a rust and white abby and Shirly is a blonde and white abby.

Now in Have-a-Heart tradition, I'm going to feature three more NJ guinea pig listings, and post the links to the other sweeties at the bottom of the entry.

Peanut and Butter are two adorable boys who must be adopted together. They were surrendered to the rescue because their family could no longer keep them. They arae used to dogs, cats, and kids. Peanut is a nine month old tri-color American, and Butter is a black and white abby who is six months old. They look so cute together!

Doze is a young boy who came to Have-a-Heart from a local animal shelter. He was abandoned there because his family no longer wanted him. He is used to being around cats, dogs, and kids. He is also adorable.

LISTING REMOVED--> Mae and Nelissa were a big topic of discussion at the AAGP household one night. Like Smores in PA, I am convinced these girls are relatives of my Sophie. I had a really elaborate plan for a family reunion, but it simply isn't feasible. So one of you dear folks should get these girls. (If they are related to Sophie, they will definitely be sweethearts). These young girls were abandoned at a local shelter because they were no longer wanted. They are used to cats, dogs, and kids. But they aren't used to permanence. Can you teach them?

NY-Dutchess County SPCA-two sows/one boar

Dutchess County SPCA in New York has LISTING REMOVED. three guinea pigs available for adoption.

I believe that the guinea pig pictured is the male. As the three were dropped off together, you'll want to do a pregnancy check. The three guineas were dumped at the shelter because the owner couldn't take them to his new house. Now they need a home that will be theirs forever. The girls are a bit shy, but the guy is friendly. The shelter advises to call for more information, as opposed to emailing. Note: the food pictured is the equivalent of junk food for guinea pigs. At best, it stops guinea pigs from eating the healthy part of the pellets, at worst it can cause organ damage after long term use.

NY-Hi-Tor Animal Care Center-young boar

I know two things about Hi-Tor Animal Care Center in Rockland County, New York. The first is that their volunteers and staff deeply care about the animals there. The second is that their shelter is over flowing. The animals at this shelter are in desperate need of adoption. Here is the face of one of the animals you could save.

ADOPTED! Henry has stolen my heart. He looks so sweet and gentle in this photo. Henry is nine months old, meaning he is likely out of that prickly adolescence. His family dropped him off at the shelter because they didn't have time for him. Poor Henry--animals experience such rejection throughout their lives. Henry will need a bit of socialization toward people, but he'll likely get a lot of that at the shelter. They have a Pet Buddies program where they take adoptable pets to nursing homes, etc. Adopt this boy and you will save a life--if not his, the guinea pig who is able to take his place.

PA-Piggie Lovers Inc. Guinea Pig Rescue-bonded boars

Piggie Lovers Inc. Guinea Pig Rescue has two new boars available for adoption!

LISTING REMOVED. Wesley (L) and Giles (R) are two young boars, around 5 to 6 months old. These two boys are lap piggies, which makes them wonderful. They do like to give love-nibbles, so they're not compatible with a child home. Also, best to have a big lap for these two! They're so bonded they wheek when separated.
