POST EXPIRED. Pittsburgh, PA; two bonded sows: The poster here is really looking for someone who is knowledgeable about guinea pigs, or is willing to learn. The two beauties she's rehoming really deserve that educated care. They are two years old, come with a cage and a spare cage, accessories, food dish, water bottles, bedding (fleece and towels), and left over hay and food. Small and very reasonable adoption fee.

Rescues and shelters need assistance paying for hoarder's crime

Like Judge's Park, The Critter Connection (a CT based rescue) is assisting in the rescue of the enormous MA guinea pig surrender. A hoarder who had become ill gave up around 150 cavies he had been keeping in his shed. They were in terrible condition, some blind. All of the females are assumed pregnant. That means that any rescue that takes in any of these pigs is going to have to cope with a huge increase in medical bills. You can help ease that burden by donating either time, supplies, a foster home, or finances. Judge's Park donation information is here and The Critter Connection donation information is here. (If I have missed any rescues who are assisting with this effort, please post them in the comments section, along with contact information).

There's also an individual (I e-know her from GuineaLynx) who at this very moment is driving from PA to MA to pick up thirty piggies. I've donated just ten dollars to her myself, and stacked against all the other donations, it made a difference. Just one dollar would even! The cost of just feeding thirty guinea pigs is going to make a huge dent in the wallet. Read information about her journey and the tremendous act of taking in the pigs here. You can find donation information in this thread, as well as more information on this case.

Here are some articles. One Two. The second link also gives you information on how to donate to the shelter.

PA-Judge's Park

How have I not posted about Judge's Park yet and their amazing guinea pigs? I really thought I had. I'm actually still kind of convinced I must have and Blogger deleted the posts, so if anyone can reassure me that I did once post about them, that'd be great. Judge's Park is a home based rescue. They're also one of few rescues I know which adopts out to people under eighteen...so if you're a youngin', check out this rescue. But you probably shouldn't be reading this blog--I can get a bit off color. Anyway, do get the agreement of your whole family before you bring any of the below beautiful guineas home.

And move fast! These gorgeous guineas will get adopted like hotcakes!

ADOPTED! Benjamin is a pretty pretty abby/peruvian boy. He's large and black and brown. Like Gus below, he was given up covered in lice and with his toenails almost curled into the bottom of his feet. He's a a very sweet calm guy who is fairly used to people, though still a bit skittish (moreso than Gus). He has to be adopted with Gus, as they're bonded. Both Benjamin and Gus are used to kids.

ADOPTED! Gorgeous Gus is a large rust and white silkie. He is a year and a half old. Gus is the biggest sweetheart, and he has not had a happy past. He was given up covered in lice and his toenails had curled under almost in to the bottom of his feet. He wasn't getting the right diet, and his cage was far too small. But he is a calm sweetie now, one who doesn't run when you reach for him (this is rare!). He does need regular brushing and bathing. Gus is bonded with Benjamin, and must be adopted with him.

ADOPTED! Harry is a handsome guy who even has a video at his Petfinder page. He looks like a furry comet! He is a purebred Texel of large build. He's estimated to be a year old. The poor boy was formerly used for br33ding, then dumped in to a petstore, which is how he came to the rescue. For three months Harry was at the store, covered in bugs, dirty, and frightened, so no one would buy him. The store owner called the director of Judge's Park. Now Harry is the beautiful healthy, happy boy pictured here. He is a sweetheart boy who loves to be held and pet. Understandably, he is a bit shy. Read more at his page about adoption requirements and his compatibility with other piggies.

ADOPTED! Rocky is a gorgeous peruvian/silky mix, meaning he would require daily brushings to keep his hair fr33 of tangles. Rocky is black brown and white. He is super sweet once in the lap, but a bit tricky to pick up. He's a bit too skinny, so he needs to keep eating and drinking as well as he has been. He's an alpha male, possibly suitable to living alone, and is intact. Keep that in mind if you fall in love! He is being posted as a courtesy by Judge's Park, but is not actually with this rescue.

I also want to post from another listing (removed, but still relevant). It reads: "Judge's Park is getting in a group of piggies from Massachusets that are desperately in need of homes. Please see the link. We are arranging a transport and need help with fosters, adopters, supplies, and care. Please email if you can help!!"
