NJ-North Jersey and Have-A-Heart Rescue-Spotlight!

I'd like to spotlight pigs from two large, wonderfully reputed New Jersey rescues. They have many more pigs than those I'm about to feature, so please if you are in New Jersey and looking for a guinea pig, or looking to become more involved in guinea pig care, contact them! They both have guinea pigs of all ages, breeds, and both sexes.

North Jersey Guinea Pig and Hamster Rescue
; Budd Lake, New Jersey: Giovanni!

North Jersey saved Giovanni from euthanization, and now he's been living the high life and is ready for a home! He is a two year old extra large Peruvian boy with a rooster tail. Look at the boy--he wants you to love him!

See the rest of Giovanni's friends here at North Jersey's complete pet list.

Have-A-Heart Guinea Pig Rescue has around 200 pigs in foster homes in PA, DE, and NJ.

Phil and Buddy are two bonded large adult males who have been with the rescue since December. They were surrendered because of allergies, but were much loved by their previous owner. They are used to cats, dogs, and kids. Phil is on the left and is three years old, and Buddy is on the right and is 2.5 years old. They're in Pemberton, NJ.

See the rest of Have-A-Heart's pigs at their complete small and furry pet list.

NJ-Rabbit Haven by the Sea-Young Male

Rabbit Haven by the Sea; Atlantic Highlands: Theo!

Theo is a one year old male guinea pig who is "super gentle, friendly and sweet," as well as active, but he doesn't mind lounging and watching TV with you either! He loves people and comes with all his supplies. He sounds like the perfect pig, and he looks like quite the cutie.

NJ-Friends of Homeless Animals-Trio, 2 single males, female

Friends of Homeless Animals of Northern New Jersey; Hawthorne, NJ: Othello, Tabitha, Cosmo, and Lassie, Louise, and Daggot.

This rescue prefers guinea pig experience in their adopters. Contact for more information.

Othello is a gorgeous long haired abby who currently prefers to live by himself, though that may change as he ages. He is presently listed as "Young" on Petfinder.

Tabitha is a "very sweet little girl" who wants to be adopted either to a home with a guinea pig already or with one of her friends from the rescue.

Cosmo is an orange/white Abby/American mix, with a white mohawk of hair on his head. He is a year old, and has a strong personality. He is one of those rare pigs who could live by himself (or maybe with a spayed female?)

Louise is a young american guinea pig, primarily white in color with some other colors on her face and rear. She is paired with Lassie and Daggot.

Lassie is an orange and white American pig who came to the rescue from the shelter. She is a bit skittish but should improve with time. She is paired with Louise and Daggot.

And here's the lucky guy with two girlfriends, Daggot. He's a neutered one and a half year old teddy.

NJ-North Jersey Guinea Pig and Hamster Rescue-Three young/baby guinea boys!

North Jersey Guinea Pig and Hamster Rescue; Budd Lake, NJ: Caleb, Truman, and Emilio!

Caleb is a large young guinea guy, four months old, who came to the rescue because the puppy in his old house was creating drama. Tsstss. He can be adopted to a home that has a lonely boy, or with one of his new friends in the rescue.

Truman is an adorable baby boy given up to the rescue also because of a problematic puppy. He can be adopted to a home with with a lonely guinea guy, or with a new friend in the rescue.

Emilio is a cute three month old agouti guinea guy given up to the rescue under the same terms. He can also be adopted to a home with a piggy already present, or go home with one of his friends.

NJ-North Jersey Guinea Pig and Hamster Rescue-Bonded adult male and single adult male

North Jersey Guinea Pig and Hamster Rescue; Budd Lake, NJ: Nibbler and Little Pig, and Search!

Nibbler and Little Pig have been in the rescue since late May, when they were surrendered because of allergies. Nibbler is a black american pig, about 1.5 years old, and Little Pig is also a black american, but with a white stripe down his nose (cute!). Little Pig is about three years old. They are bonded and get along great, and so should be adopted together.

Search is a good looking 1.5 y.o. black american piggie boy with white markings. He was also surrendered because of allergies in late May. He's not used to being handled and so is pretty skittish, but with some TLC he should settle at least a bit. He should make a great friend to a lonely male, or could be adopted as a single.

NJ-Friends of Homeless Animals-Nutley Two Pairs (FF/MM)

Friends of Homeless Animals of Northern New Jersey; Hawthorne, NJ: Sugar/Spice and Othello/Hamlet!

Sugar/Spice are guinea girls in a foster home in Nutley, NJ. They were rescued from the local animal shelter. As they are skittish it's preferred if people with guinea pig experience are their lucky adopters. They're adults. Donations toward their care are appreciated, and contact information is listed at their link.

Othello/Hamlet are two tragic heroes who have bonded in foster care, also in Nutley! Othello is black and white and a "long haired Abby" (I think of Abbies as medium length, so I'll mark this as both). He is eight months old. He was surrendered when the poor guy developed a bad case of mites--an easily treatable condition. He's in tip top shape now and ready for adoption. Piggy or Hamlet is a black and white American who is 1 1/2, and bonded with Othello. Good luck boys! Donations toward their care are appreciated. Contact information available at their link.

NJ/PA-Have-A-Heart goes vintage: *8* pigs from 2006!

I have been extremely negligent in posting Have-A-Heart Guinea Pig Rescue updates. They have been handling a massive hoarder and cruelty case. The saddest thing is that this is by a repeat offender. I'm going to link to a page with more information, but there are graphic photos of the results of animal cruelty there. Be warned. You can find information on how to help at the home page of the rescue. INFO ON THE CRISIS PIGS: WARNING, GRAPHIC AND SAD!

One of the most helpful ways to ease the burden on Have-A-Heart is to adopt one of their guinea pigs! They have hundreds of healthy guinea pigs of all ages, br33ds, and colors! Here is their complete pet list.

And there are some guinea pigs who have been with the rescue since 2006! Please consider these pigs first.
