PA-Humane Society of Harrisburg Area-East Shore-Two Pigs

Humane Society of Harrisburg Area-East Shore; Harrisburg, PA: GiGi and Unsexed Pig!

GiGi is an adorable small adult female guinea pig. Look at that gorgeous crest! She wants a home so badly, you can see it in her eyes.

This beautiful unsexed pig is just such a winner. She or he is so cute! Here's a good link for determining his or her sex: Boy or Girl?. This piggy should never be br3d, (though AAGP does not endorse the intentional br33ding of any guinea pig) because of the roaning in its fur, which means he or she could produce a lethal pig.

* AAGP recommends quarantining any new guinea pigs
for 2-3 weeks and confirming the sex yourself.

Jessie is a small young female being housed in the ARL's rabbit room. GUINEA PIG LESSON: Guinea pigs and rabbits should never be housed together because the rabbit's legs have a powerful kick that can easily injure the pig, and they are also commonly carriers of bordatella and pasteurella, which is very serious when contracted by guinea pigs.

PA-Adams County SPCA-Three small adult males

Adams County SPCA; Gettysburg, PA: Peanut and Brothers Chuck, Albuquerque and ADOPTED! Filmore!

*NEW* Peanut is a poor piggy! Her owner passed away, and eventually she found herself at the shelter. She is a very sweet girl, in need of a forever home and some love.

Chuck (first pictured) Albuquerque (second pictured) and Filmore (third pictured pictured) are three brothers who were surrendered to the shelter when their owner could no longer care for them. The three of them were purchased at auction then given to their owners, who never really wanted them in the first place. Please see the links below for helpful care tips. Their bio also offers helpful information. GUINEA PIG LESSON: If an animal is a gift it should be consensual. The surprise animal gift rarely works well for any parties involved (allergies, vet costs, ongoing costs, interest, space, life changes, etc.).

PA-PAWS Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society-two female guinea pigs/VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society; Philadelphia, PA: Penny and/or Two girls, not bonded!

Girl One is a black and rust abby, Girl Two is a Black/White/Orange shorthair. So pretty! They are "both beautiful and healthy piggies, very friendly and they deserve better than to be stuck at the shelter. "

I'm not sure if Penny is one of these girls, but look how cute! She's a really adorable small young girl. And that's the flash reflecting on her eyes--she's not like Cyclops from the X-Men. OH but wouldn't that be neat?!

PAWS also has a recent post up with volunteer opportunities! In addition to the basics like walking dogs, PAWS needs people to help volunteer with the OVERFLOWING small animal room. There are tons of impulse Easter bunnies who wound up at the shelter. If you're interested in helping contact them through the link. PA-Lycoming County SPCA-Cutest baby male

Lyoming County SPCA; Williamsport, PA: Gunther!

Gunther is a small baby medium haired male. He is a carrier of the roan gene, and so he should never be used for br33ding, as he can create blind, deaf, and toothless babies known as lethals. This blog is against the purposeful br33ding of any guinea pigs due to the overwhelming homeless population problem. Click on the links for more information. He is a FAVORITE GUINEA PIG!

PA-Central PA Humane Society-3 young short hairs

Central PA Humane Society; Altoona, PA: Guido, Hammie, and Maria!

"Central PA Humane Society animals may be seconds but they are not irregulars!"
--From the website

Guido is a small young male who loves on people, and lets people love on him. He likes being held. What a cuddly pig!

Hammie is an adorable guy who has been handled regularly by the shelter staff and is "friendly, calm, and nice." He's easy to pick up, which is a lucky thing to find a pig--they're speedy! Hammie has a wide variety of veggies he loves. Read about all the great choices at Proper Diet.

Maria is the beautiful young mother of these two boys. Something to ask about, if you are interested in adopting Maria, is whether she's being housed together with Guido and Hammie and how old she is. There may be a PREGNANCY WATCH. Guinea pig females are fertile at 28 days, and guinea pig males are fertile at 21 days. Guinea pig females can be back bred immediately after giving birth.
