Brevity for the sake of sanity.

LISTING REMOVED Owego, NY: 4-H project. (4-Heaven's Sake project). One month American sow, six month teddy sow, six month American male. Socialized to people and very child friendly. Small adoption fee.

BR33DER LINK REMOVED: Five pigs need rehoming, two females and three males. Being rehomed due to allergies. One pig has just one eye. Sounds like an odd situation, they're being bottle-fed? Guinea pigs can take Critical Care or pedialyte (or veggies) if their mothers have rejected them, which is what has happened here. They're very sweet. Come with cages and accessories.

LISTING REMOVED. Suffolk County, NY: Brown and white boar less than a year old being rehomed. Cause--children lost interest, the guinea pig is described as "very good but needs to go to a home where he will get the attention he needs."

LISTING REMOVED. Westchester, NY: One year old boar being rehomed due to conflict between to fighting boars. Hopefully this isn't a matter of just a too small cage. Boar is described as "docile and very cute."

LISTING REMOVED Rochester, NY: Two male guinea pigs that need to be rehomed due to moving. Atlas and Bear are both approximately one and a half years old and "extremely friendly." They are bonded and so must be adopted as a pair. They are adorable!

LISTING REMOVED. Manhattan, NY: Very handsome and striking guinea pig named Ank, poster describes him as "nice" and "friendly." He is recovering well from two abscess surgeries and will soon be off antibiotics. Being rehomed due to relocation. Doesn't sound like the best time for it. Poor boy!

Craigslist Appreciation

Just wanted to share a CL post I really liked. Vote for it as best of as long as it lasts here.

It was written in response to a line of another ad reading, "pretty brown and white guinea pig needs new home where the children will remember to care for it."

To quote the excellent CL ad in full:

"No guinea pig needs a home where CHILDREN will remember to care for it. Guinea pigs are not toys; they are living creatures who deserve the consistent care of a responsible ADULT.

If you wouldn't want to depend on a child for your meals and the cleanliness of your surroundings, please don't subject innocent animals to that fate.

If you want your children to learn responsibility, model responsible behavior by taking great care of the pets you bring into your family. Kids can help, but the responsibility is for adults. It worked for my kids--and our guinea pigs!"

Cheers to that poster!

LISTING REMOVED North Buffalo, NY: (repost) One year old guinea pig needs a new home as soon as possible. Comes with all necessary supplies. Being rehomed due to change in schedule. This adorable wonderful, talented boar deserves better.

LISTING REMOVED Plattsburgh, NY: These three pigs are being advertised for rehoming all over the net. Please see their description here at Guinea Pig Home, and here at Guinea Pig Adoption Network. The poster is willing to divide a bonded trio, which I think is very unfortunate. To quote from her ad "Their names are Daphne- she has the black streak by her eye, Claudette- she's the multi-colored one, and Lou- she's the red-head. But of course you can rename them if you'd like. I will also include their toys and if they are wanted separately I will give you each their favorite toy." Poster is unable to transport.

Tumbles is a black and white abby (aww) who has been in the rescue all the way back since September. He came to the rescue from the local animal shelter, where he was turned in because he was no longer wanted. He has experience being around kids, dogs, and cats.

Ninja Baby and Happy Cow are two bonded boys who actually need a foster home, not just a forever home! They are bonded and so must be fostered or adopted together. They were born in the rescue to a beautiful abby who has since been adopted. They have experience being around dogs and cats. Ninja Baby is an all black abby (cute) and Happy Cow is a black and white abby (Cute). They are also in need of donations for their neuters.

Kingston and Carmel are two more bonded boys who need a foster home. They were returned to the rescue after their owners' child lost interest in them. Trust me, it's the kid who's boring, not the guinea pigs. Very true universal statement for all animal rescue "Sadly, we see that happen all the time. They get adopted as babies and then come back after they are full grown" These pigs in particular are used to kids, kitties, and dogs. The pigs were born on 3/3/07. Kingston is a black and rust American, and Carmel is a rust American. Donations are being accepted for their neuter.

NY-GPAN-Two bonded sows

Medford (Long Island), NY: Faith and Valentine are one year old guinea pigs that must find a new home, as their owners are moving. One is all black, the other is black and white. They're mother and daughter (I'm guessing the one year age is rounding then for at least one).

PA-Judge's Park-young sow

Judge's Park, PA: ADOPTED! Maggie!

Maggie in one sentence, "A sweet little energetic baby, very friendly with loads of potential to be another guinea pig's buddy." Four months old. Very laid back and sweet. Submissive girl who needs to live with girls who won't take advantage of her pliant nature. Likes to be held, easy to pick up and cuddle, and is very vocal and adorable. Must live with another pig, could work well with a neutered male or any female.

NY-Craigslist-Multiple Listings

* If responding to a Craigslist ad meet in a public place, or go with a friend. Google the phone number of the poster to
ensure it matches the name he or she gives *

LISTING REMOVED. Albany, NY: One guinea pig is male, one is female, the poster will not allow them to go to the same home as they are not fixed. The poster has brought them back to health from a sad state. Small adoption fee. Male is nine months old and a bit scared "but will overcome it." Female is one year old and familiar with children, used to being held, socialized with people. Poster is fostering them.

LISTING REMOVED Medford (Long Island), NY: Questionable, frustrating ad. Two female guinea pigs. The story is that they adopted one guinea pig and didn't know she was pregnant. Both guinea pigs are a year old (wouldn't one be younger? What with needing time for a gestation period and all?). And why isn't the poster returning the pig to the place the pigs were adopted from? Or I'm misinterpreting it and one is an adopted pig and the other pig is from another source. Then what happened to the babies? Anyway, anyway. "Very good pets. Love to be held."

LISTING REMOVED Long Island, NY: Will trade guinea pig cage, guinea pig, and accessories for a fish tank and accessories. Rehoming due to allergies.

LISTINGS REMOVED. Stony Brook, NY: Smokey the guinea pig (black and white) is available for adoption, and comes with his new adoption. Being rehomed because he was purchased as a birthday gift for the poster's son, but the kid is never home to "enjoy it." I bet the guinea pig isn't too crazy about that arrangement either!

LISTING REMOVED Spencerport (near Rochester), NY: Tricolor male guinea pig available for adoption (gray, brown and white). Less than one year old. Being rehomed because owner is leaving for long term military training. This post makes me sad on a lot of levels :(

LISTING REMOVED. Syracuse, NY: Very cute black guinea pig girl available for adoption because children have lost interest. Comes with cage and accessories. Age unknown.
