LISTING REMOVED Chambersburg, PA: YARD SALE GUINEA PIG ON 6/28 SATURDAY. As I said with our last yard sale guinea pig, this is just setting up for a disastrous impulse buy. "guinea pig with everything included." 81 to Wayne Ave exit, right on Wayne Ave., Sheetz on Left--click on link for continuation of directions.

Do me a favor, dear reader, if you are near this neighborhood but aren't able to save the guinea pig yourself, could you print out and place a GuineaLynx Care Guide near the cage (with permission)? And make sure s/he's not out in the sun? If the guinea pig is, try and convince the owners to put him inside, perhaps with a sign saying there's a guinea pig indoors. Failing that, move piggy into the shade.

GUINEA PIG LESSON: Guinea pigs and rabbits should not be paired together, guinea pigs are vulnerable to several common rabbit diseases, such as bordattela, they often lose in the competition for food, and rabbits' larger leg muscles can injure guinea pigs easily and unexpectedly.

NY-Craigslist-Hudson Valley/Rochester/ Buffalo/ Binghamton

*If responding to an ad by an individual, meet in a public place
or go with a friend. Google the phone number of the poster to
ensure it matches the name he or she gives *

LISTING REMOVED Hopewell Junction (Hudson Valley), NY: Bonded white guinea pig and brown guinea pig being rehomed, both just under one year of age. Sex not specifed (PREGNANCY WATCH Boy or Girl?). They come with a large bag of food and bedding. I don't understand this part: "THE WHITE ONE CAN NOT MATE..ALBINO GUINEA PIGS CAN NOT MATE!"

GUINEA PIG LESSON: Unless a guinea pig is spayed or neutered, regardless of age or breed, it must be presumed that they can reproduce. They'll sneak up on you after 3 years with 8 pups, and not live through delivery. Also, there are no albino guinea pigs. There are Pink Eyed Whites, known as PEWs. And they can in fact mate. Perhaps this poster is thinking of Lethals, who should not reproduce.

Rochester, NY: Two bonded sisters, 4-5 month old GPs, one a black/white american, the other a black/dark orange abyssinian. "Playful, vocal, and clearly very cute!" Being rehomed due to lack of time. Come with too small cage ( Cheaper, Better Cages) and accessories, and any remaining bedding and food. Want a guinea pig experienced home or one willing to give a lot of out of cage time.

GUINEA PIG LESSON
: Carrots are only good as an occasional treat, and are basically equivalent to junk food for guinea pigs. Learn about what to feed your new friend here: Proper Diet . Pellets also shouldn't have colored pieces or corn.

LISTING REMOVED North Ton (Buffalo), NY: 3 y.o. male guinea pig being rehomed due to no longer being compatible with cage mate (cage mate is a younger male, they go through adolescence and can change personalities, doesn't reflect on adoptable pig). Pictures available by request. Adopter needs own cage (Cheaper, Better Cages ).

Binghamton, NY: Baby guinea pig (sex not specified Boy or Girl?) being rehomed due to move.

ensure it matches the name he or she gives *

West Deptford, NJ: 1.5 y.o. male guinea pig named Caramel, brown and black short hair, being rehomed with far too small cage (Cheaper, Larger Cages ), carrying cage, hay, food and bedding. Being rehomed due to lack of time. "He is a little skittish right now because he's not used to a lot of attention, but once he gets to know you he will settle down. " GUINEA PIG LESSON: Poster points out that guinea pigs are social animals, it's true! They need a same-sex friend. A rescue can help you pair a male with a male, it's a GUINEA PIG MYTH that guinea pig males can't be paired together. This page will really help: Social Life. Opt to adopt!

PA-Bucks County SPCA-1 y.o. male

Bucks County, SPCA; Lahaska, PA: LISTING REMOVED Jasper!

Jasper is a one year old male who is friendly and used to being handly. And he's gorgeous!

GUINEA PIG LESSON: Jasper has a very beautiful element to his fur called roaning. One of many reasons why I'm against br33ding (and why this blog does not support br33ding), is because if a roan pig is br3d with with a roan pig (or if a dal pig, another br33d, is br3d with a dal pig), there is a one in four chance a lethal pig will be born. Lethal pigs are very, very special needs, if they live more than a few days. Please don't ever br33d your pigs, as there is a high chance of fatality for the mother. But if you have a pig with white fur and some black spots (a dal pig), or markings such as Satch, please, please don't br33d them. Your pig may create a blind, deaf pig with no teeth who relies on you for care. And with so many hundreds of homeless pigs, why br33d in the first place?
