WV-Ritchie County Humane Society Inc.-Male/Female pair (Special Needs)

Ritchie County Humane Society Inc.; Harrisville, WV: Brownie and Indy!

Brownie is the crested girl and Indy is the boy. They're both young. Indy is the shyer of the two. They both enjoy being pet on their foreheads. Unless one of them is spayed or neutered, this warrants a PREGNANCY WATCH (GL link on reproduction).

Indy is showing signs of hair loss, most commonly due to mites, and so I've marked him special needs. He is a gorgeous Himalayan in the making though! Every new guinea pig should go to a Cavy Savvy Vet for a well visit, but Indy will definitely need one. Guinea Lynx provides a list of common mistakes in treatment here. Mites are a very common issue in guinea pig treatment.

More knowledge and GP fun galore are available at GuineaLynx.

PA-Craigslist-Allentown/Philadelphia/Harrisburg/ Lancaster

*If responding to an ad by an individual, meet in a public place
or go with a friend. Google the phone number of the poster to
ensure it matches the name he or she gives *

Easton (Allentown), PA: Female guinea pig being rehomed due to not getting along with her cage mate (if you're having a similar issue but want to keep trying, see Social Life). Crested, medium haired American. Comes with cage, water bottle, and food. "Great with people and loves attention."

Philadelphia, PA: Male guinea pig being homed with cage. The cage is the size espoused by br33ders and petstores looking to turn a profit by keeping a smaller product on their shelves in order to stock (and sell) more. Informed pet owners and rescuers endorse and use these cages: Cheaper, Larger Cages. Comes with timothy hay, bedding, guinea pig book (unless it's animal planet or adult's guide it's outdated and inaccurate), pigloo, tunnel, brush, water bottle.

LISTING REMOVED Garnet Valley (Philadelphia), PA: Tricolor 9 month old male guinea pig (brown/black/white) being rehomed due to move. "Very sweet...doesn't bite." Socialized to people and used to children. Comes with cage, water bottle, food, and bedding. DANGEROUS: rolling balls (can break the bones in foot/spine, are fatal, should only be used for gerbils) and vitamin C drops IF USED IN THE WATER because they are not water soluble. After five minutes they aren't effective any more, and they leave the water tasting bad. Reduced water consumption causes a host of medical issues in guinea pigs. (And guess what a non-Cavy Savvy Vet might prescribe? Vitamin C drops for scurvy. Ouch. Look to a Proper Diet instead for vitamin C sources).

LISTING REMOVED Hershey (Harrisburg), PA: One year old male guinea pig being rehomed due to lack of time. Comes with cage, bedding, food, toys, food bowl, water bottle, pigloo.

LISTING REMOVED Lancaster, PA: Beautiful Bella! Two year old female guinea pig named Bella being rehomed due to allergies. Poster clearly loves her pig and has had her since she was a baby. Bella "loves to be out of her cage and play." She comes with her cage, treats, food, and water bottle. Guinea pigs' average lifespan is 5-7, 9+, oldest lived to 12 years.

Rochester, NY: Two guinea pigs (sex not specified Boy or Girl? PREGNANCY WATCH) being rehomed due to lack of time. One is nine months old, one is one year old. Cage, bedding, and accessories available also.

Rochester, NY: Three guinea pigs available for adoption, all three to go together. Two short haired females, long haired males (POSSIBLE PREGNANCY WATCH). Being rehomed due to allergies. Come with two cages, two water bottles, two feeding dishes, three houses, etc.

LISTING REMOVED Staten Island, NY: Two nine week old baby piggies, unsexed, being rehomed due to allergies (Boy or Girl? PREGNANCY WATCH-male pigs can impregnate at 21 days, female pigs can be impregnated at 28 days). Some urgency needed in rehoming as poster's father is having severe allergies, so poster is considering taking the pigs to a shelter. If the adopter doesn't need a cage, the adoption fee will be lower. Why not try Cheaper, Larger Cages?
