PA-PAWS Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society-ten guinea pigs, all ages

Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society; Philadelphia, PA: LISTING REMOVED Ten guinea pigs!

From the craigslist posting: "Hello my name is Jackie and I am a volunteer for PAWS. The shelter has around 10 guinea pigs that were surrendered to the shelter the other day by some crazy lady. I think she let them br33d and everything. There are babies and adults and the shelter is very loud and not a nice place for piggies. If you're think of buying a guinea pig PLEASE adopt one from Paws instead!"

GUINEA PIG LESSON: Don't forget to check whether your guinea pig is a Boy or Girl. And any female guinea pigs should still be on a PREGNANCY WATCH. As for the babies, remember that boy guinea pigs are sexually fertile at 21 days, and girl guinea pigs can be impregnated at 28 days. The gestation period is 59-73 days. Only until 74 days has passed do you know for a fact that you're out of the clear.

* AAGP recommends quarantining any new guinea pigs
for 2-3 weeks and confirming the sex yourself.
Many sad accidents or "accidents" can be avoided this way. *
