PA-Ruth Steinert SPCA-seven guinea pigs

Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA in Minersville, PA has ADOPTED! seven guinea pigs in need of adopters and forever homes. ETA: down to two guinea pigs available for adoption.

It does not seem like this shelter regularly has guinea pigs, which worries me. I hope they have been divided by sex. They might be getting amazing care, I'm just going by the petfinder listing and hoping for the best, preparing for the worst--a good policy if ever in rescue. There are smooth hairs and abbys.

LISTING REMOVED. Keansburg, NJ: two bonded boars need a forever home. They are sweet, healthy short hair boys. They can be in a cage together, or they can each come with a cage. They need a home "ASAP," i.e. A Sn@ke Anticipates Prey. Watch out of these boys, won't you?

LISTING REMOVED. Lowville, (near Watertown), NY: two female guinea pigs being offered for adoption. I'm not sure if this is a relisting of the Lowville ad from two days ago. They come with their cage, food, and some accessories. The poster says they make a great Christmas gift. First off, do Jewish children not want guinea pigs? And second off, animals should never be given as a present. The recipient has not consented and planned for the animal. A few months after Christmas Craigslist will be flooded with posts about unwanted animals. "I didn't know the cat would scratch," "I didn't realize dogs barked so much," and the ever popular, "my kid lost interest." Of course if a kid loses interest, the animal stops having needs. Frwwp.

PA-Piggie Lovers Inc. Guinea Pig Rescue-Bonded PEW Boys

Piggie Lovers Inc. Guinea Pig Rescue has two new guineas available for adoption!

T
wo new guinea pigs available for adoption. They come from the same sad situation as the guinea pigs in this post.

ADOPTED! Cronus and ADOPTED! Hades are two more handsome PEW boys. Cronus was born in April of 2005, and Hades was born in April of this year. They are very sweet and love to be held.

They were rescued with four other guinea pigs from a lab in Toronto where they were due to be euthanized. Luckily a network of guinea pig lovers got together and coordinated a piggie train to get the cavies to Piggie Lovers. Next stop--their forever home!

They love veggies and are very active. They love the safe hanging toys in their cage. These boys are very lucky indeed.

LISTING REMOVED. Woodbridge, NJ: This post for a sweet one year old boar really makes me (relatively) happy. The poster is going to screen adopters with an application and an adoption fee. Craigslist is a great potential tool for finding pigs of personal surrenders a home, instead of taking up the place of a pig who is due to be euthanized in a rescue. If everyone showed the same level of commitment and patience when rehoming their guinea pigs, Craigslist wouldn't be such a dangerous place for animals. I can't say I agree with rehoming a pet (though I don't know the background behind the ad), but I respect how this person is going about it.
